Quien no adhiriere a algún credo, lo inventa, adora objetos diversos o estatuillas de dioses de todo el mundo; incluso quienes son mas racionales llegan a generar un fanatismo similar al religioso de antaño. En este contexto, ciertas santidades toman otro discurso y se revindican incluso mas allá de lo religioso y cercano a lo político y social. Decidí apropiar al Gauchito Gil y liberarlo de ese mandato macho gauchesco. El gauchito es un santo popular, es de todes y en este revisionismo millennial esta desprovisto de su contexto opresor y vuelto amor.
My Kind of GIL (2022) is part of the Modern Holiness collection of NFTs available on the OpenSea platform. In this series, still in progress, I review the idea of spirituality and religion that we millennials reach today driven by the post-truth distributed on social networks, where everything becomes religion and fanaticism. Whoever does not adhere to any creed invents it, worships various objects or statuettes of gods from all over the world; Even those who are more rational manage to generate a fanaticism similar to the religious one of yesteryear. In this context, certain sanctities take on another discourse and claim even beyond the religious and close to the political and social. I decided to appropriate Gauchito Gil and free him from that macho gaucho mandate. The gauchito is a popular saint, he belongs to everyone and in this millennial revisionism he is stripped of his oppressive context and turned into love.
